Achievement of a bipartisan partnership between Cameroon and France, the International war college of yaounde created by presidential decree of the 13th January 200 has for several years been the unique francophone superior military training school for military elites within sub Saharan Africa. Inother to enable the International war college of Yaounde became a pole of excellence for superior military education of 2nd degree in Africa, Cameroon signed in April 2008 a convention with France, activating a partnership with the Paris War College; a partnership that guarantee a complementarity of teaching skills. The said convention is renewed periodically.  

From 2005 to 2009, teaching programs of the Senior Joint Defence Course (CSID) were temporary done within the premises of the combine service military academic of Yaounde (EMIA). During this period, construction works of a befitting campus for the international War college was ongoing at it present location to grant this superior military teaching college the image it deserves at international level. As from 2009, infrastructures of the International War college of Yaounde with it permanent site at the SIMBOCK neighbourhood offers to officers intends, an ideal environment conducive the quality of training offered by distinguished personalities as well as the conduct of regular operational planification exercices. Moreover, it offers a swift internet network that enables courses to be done on visioconference.  In addition, every officer intend at the International War College is entitle to a portable computer connected to the intranet of the school for the duration of the training.

The International War College annual training program covers a period of 11 months, basically for senior officers from Land force, Air force, the Navy and the national Gendarmerie to prepare them for the command of big units and to carryout responsibilities in a defence headquarters or a joint staff headquarters, in directorates and services as well as within inter-ministerial or ministerial organization where defence and security policies are being conceived and conducted.
